Roomba 980 from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba 980, the most recent of a series of top-of the-line ilife robot vacuum vacuums, is a staple for any modern home. This model is incredibly powerful suction and an HEPA filter that’ll aid anyone who is concerned about allergies. Additionally it comes with a powerful battery which can clean for up to two hours and it will return to its dock once its bin is full.

It also comes with the feature of smart mapping, which makes use of multiple sensors to help it identify the areas of your home that need attention and then create a clean path around them. This technology is very effective in navigating toys that have been left on the floor Robot Vacuum Mop Combo or furniture legs sticking out from underneath things. Roomba also has a sensor that snaps Roomba to its real-world location if it begins to wander away from its initial location.

iRobot has also introduced a new set of rollers under the Roomba’s bottom, which do not have bristles, Robot Vacuum Mop Combo and thus tend to resist tangles better than the previous models. They’re also a bit taller than previous rollers, and will fit better under beds and couches that are low, and they’re designed to allow this model to move more easily on varying floor types.

What makes the Roomba 980 stand out from other models of this class, though, is its integration of the new dirt detection feature, which uses a camera to spot particles of dirt embedded. This is an improvement over the previous version that relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom cover method to bounce around the room, and then clean everything three times at different angles.

In our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on both hard flooring and carpets. It scored very well on low-pile carpet and also on mid-pile. It was successful in picking up pet hair but had a difficult time with the thick and long pet hair that was stuck together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the best performing robots in our list despite the minor drawbacks. It’s also not as expensive as top-of-the-line models. It’s still packed with a variety of features that we’d like to see in a top-of-the-line model however it lacks all the fancy apps or smart home integration that you’ll find in other top contenders.

The iRobot Roomba is simple to set up and start up and running immediately. After taking the yellow bin insert and pull tab from its undercarriage it is simply connected to an outlet on the wall or to its Home Base docking stations, hit the «Clean button» and let it work. It will return to its dock when the battery runs out or it’s full of debris. It also has indicators on the top to indicate when its bin is full or it needs to be recharged or its Wi-Fi signal is not working.
